Rules
Welcome to Anime Milwaukee 2012! It’s been a long road to reach this point but Anime Milwaukee is ready to reach for the stars. We want to make sure that everyone has a great convention experience and, more importantly, that everyone is in a fun and safe environment. To achieve this, we have to lay down some ground rules that will apply to everyone at the convention. We all need to do our part to make this the best Anime Milwaukee yet!
General Rules/Regulations
- No obscene or profane behavior in any public areas. This means no excessive PDA or violence of any kind. Think about what will make other people uncomfortable and then don’t do it.
- Do not sleep in any public areas (example: Panel rooms).
- Consumption of alcohol is prohibited in the convention area. Alcohol may be consumed in designated areas such as the bar or in your hotel room. Providing alcohol to minors is illegal and will result in police intervention.
- There is no smoking, real or e-cigarettes, inside the hotel or the FAC. This includes the bar area.
- The use of any illegal substance will result in police intervention. Don’t do it.
- Do not do anything to damage the convention equipment/hotel equipment. You will be held financially responsible for damaged items.
- No soliciting anything. This includes goods and services.
- Do not steal anything from the convention or the hotel. You will be held liable for any items taken.
- DO NOT drop things off from the balcony in the hotel.
- Pets are not allowed in the convention area, with the exception of service animals. If you have special needs and require a service animal, please consult with staff.
- Respect the convention staff, security, and hotel employees. They are there to make sure everyone is safe and has a good time. Please note that these rules are not exhaustive and may be updated at any time. Updated rules can be found at Information Services or by referencing our website: www.animemilwaukee.com. If you have any questions regarding these rules please direct them to information services or any Anime Milwaukee staff member. Remember, we are here to help you have a totally awesome and informed time.
Children Policies
- Parents, please take note: we do not offer childcare services. Do NOT drop off your kids and leave them unattended. There is a children’s programming area but children must be supervised. Lost children will be directed to the information desk.
- Curfew laws still apply to persons aged 17 and under, unless escorted by a legal guardian.
- Parents will be held responsible for any damage done to hotel or convention property by children.
- Minors who are found to be in the possession of alcohol may be removed from the hotel per the hotel staff’s discretion.
- All children under the age of fourteen must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.
Cosplay Policies
Anime Milwaukee welcomes all cosplayers! It’s always fun to dress up and show off a cool costume. Just make sure to follow these cosplay guidelines. If you are unsure if you violate one of the following policies, please visit Information Services to have your costume checked. Separate policies govern the Masquerade and are only for use during that time. All other costumes must conform to the policies below.
- No live steel.
- All costumes must comply with local laws. Cosplay items that are deemed as vulgar are not permitted.
- No bare feet.
- No sharp protrusions (i.e. sharp spikes).
- Please keep your costume from extending more than six inches (6”) from your body in any direction. There can be exceptions if the item is collapsible/retractable, like a tail.
- No firearms. Realistic replica firearms are not allowed either. Any gun props must be marked with an orange tip. Gun props must look harmless to the average eye (basically, they should not look realistic or threatening).
- No projectiles should be carried/used.
- No laser pointers.
Event Policies
There are a lot of cool events and sights to see at Anime Milwaukee. As always, it’s important to have fun and be safe while at these events, whether it’s a panel, a dance, or so on. Please keep these rules in mind.
- Please be courteous of other attendees at events. No pushing, shoving, or being aggressive. At the Rave, don’t do any moshing or violent behavior.
- Please be respectful and courteous at panels. Engaging with the panelists is definitely encouraged, but make sure that the panelist is able to talk.
- Do not cut in line or save spots for events.
- Please do not fight in any event area. This includes fighting with weapons, such as foam fighting or boffer, and empty hand combat, such as martial arts, stage fighting, or general play fighting.
Rave Policies
- Please do not bring big props or bags into the Rave. This is to make sure that everyone has room to dance. If you have special needs and need to have a bag inside, please consult with the staff. Other personal items are your responsibility. We are not responsible for any lost, stolen, or broken goods.
- Don’t touch the equipment used for the event
- No food or drink is allowed. Water will be accessible.
- Please keep in mind the people around you. Don’t engage in anything that may bring physical harm to those around you. Be respectful and be safe.
