Pokémon Snap Live new!

Ends at 2:30pm on Saturday

In addition to the standard Trainers Rendezvous events, Pokémon Snap Live is a brand new event for you this year! Made with those carrying fond memories of Pokémon Snap on the Nintendo 64 in mind, this event will test your real-life photography skills.

Being based on the video game, the goal is to take picture of Pokémon cosplayers and gijinka (Pokémon characters in human form) during the convention with a digital camera. You'll have until 2:30pm on Saturday, February 18 to take your pictures; afterwords, judges will evaluate the entries and award prizes to the best picture in each of four categories.

You must bring your own digital camera for this event

Pokémon Snap Live Event Rules:
  • All photos must be taken at Anime Milwaukee 2012.
  • Each entrant must be the photographer of all of their entries.
  • At least 3/4 of the Pokémon needs to be visible in the picture.
  • A single entrant cannot submit multiple entries of the same cosplayer.
  • Digital Photos only! Entries must be emailed to TrainersRendezvous@gmail.com.
  • Photos will be judged as they are submitted (cropping, red-eye removal, and other corrections are the responsibility of the entrant.)
  • Photos must be submitted no later than 2:30pm on Saturday, February 18.
  • Each entrant can submit up to 6 photographs.

Judging Categories
  • Widest variety of Pokémon in a single photograph
  • Professor Oak's Pick (using the original rules from Snap)
  • Best Action Shot
  • Best in Show

Event Tips
Poképhotographers should look for:
  • Pokémon cosplayer with Trainer
  • Multiple Pokémon cosplayers at once
  • Legendary and Shiny Pokémon
  • Creative poses and action shots
  • All evolutions at once

Gym Leaders Tournament

Friday from 3:00pm - 8:30pm and Saturday from 10:00am - 5:30pm

The main event we hold is the Gym Leaders Tournament. If you choose to compete, you will battle 8 gym leaders in order to obtain their badges. However, you must act quickly because every gym leader has a limited amount of badges, and once they run out they're gone.

The objective is to obtain more badges than anyone else and, in the event of a tie, defeat the remaining trainers!

Gym Leader Tournament Rules and Info:
  • The tournament will be done with Pokémon Black and White exclusively.
  • There are 8 gym leaders, with 25 badges each. Badges are given out on a first-come first-serve basis.
  • The winner will be the person with the most badges. In the event of a tie, those tied will battle until one wins.
  • Any trainer caught with hacked Pokémon will be automatically disqualified with no chance for refund.
  • Each round is a three on three Pokemon battle, so every trainer must register their three Pokémon when signing up for the gym leader tournament.
  • Any attached item is okay and there are no level restrictions (flat battles will be used).
  • Each trainer will get only one try for each gym leader.
  • No legendary, dream world, or uber Pokémon (Wobbuffet).
  • If there is a double K.O. and each trainer is on their last Pokémon it counts as a loss, just like the game.

Pokémon TCG Tournament

Friday at 6pm

Each round will consist of a one round (or best 2 of 3, if only a few people show up) game, consisting of a 6-prize match. Players will provide their own means of keeping track of damage, whether by damage counters, dice or paper and pencil.

Any argument will be settled by the Judge (Daniel Greinke). Rulings are final.

All rules of general play will be observed. A rulebook will be on hand for reference.

Only the sets deemed "Tournament Legal" are allowed in play. These include all sets from Heart Gold and Sour Silver to Next Destinies:
  • Heart Gold and Soul Silver
  • HS Unleashed
  • HS Undaunted
  • HS Triumphant
  • Call of Legends
  • Black and White
  • BW Emerging Powers
  • BW Noble Victories
  • BW Next Destinies
