Postby snow_hime » Wed Feb 16, 2011 11:48 pm

I'm doing a panel on folklore in anime on friday at 4:30 pm and I am a little worried that no one will show up. So I decided to advertise here. it's going to be a great panel. I hope to see you there.

Hello Miss Snow-Hime was it or should I say Yuki-Hime. I was at your Panel friday-I must say you did a decent job, but you made a few errors in your presentation.

First off Orochimaru wasn't an 8-headed dragon the correct name for the 8 headed-dragon was Orochi.

Orochimaru however was based off the old tale of Jiraya (the frog sage) who with his wife Tsunade(the slug witch) fought against Orochimaru an evil serpent wizard who can turn into a giant serpant. You can find it right here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orochimaru

Did you know the three characters in Naruto: Jiraya the Frog Sage, Tsunade the new Hokage of Naruto's village and Orochi the main evil villain of the show were based off that old tale.

Second about the kappa in a funny, yet disgusting way can be repelled back by backwind from the buttocks and a way to avoid being killed by a kappa is challenging it to a wrestling match and when bowing before beginning a kappa can lose its power.

Third you could use better examples of where yokai play a great deal of role besides Ghibi's work and whatnot- Gegege Kitaro for example was an excellent show that showed various types of yokai.

Fourth, When talking about a Kitsune you should tell the different tail types of a shape-shifting fox and though their mischievous creatures they are loyal and keep their words.

I admired your little collection you had in front, but you must brush up a little on your Yokai knowledge and of Japanese mythology-for you see I know a whole lot about Japanese folklore, mythology and the mysterious creatures of yokai.

I did admire the examples you displayed even the little clips and artwork you had even when comparing Raijin and Fuijin with Naruto and Sasuke of Naruto. If I could grade your Panel I'd give it a B- so to speak. I was a little disappointed that you ended your panel 30 mins early I was hoping for more from you-but it was a cute panel you had and hopefully if you have this panel again next year you'd study up more and put more work into your panel, but I must say a good job,

Make sure you register for your panel. This sounds like a fantastic idea and we would be more than happy to have you.
