Panel: How to become an amateur voice actor

Postby Linktube » Fri Aug 26, 2011 1:59 am

So often I hear "I want to become a voice actor" well you have to start from somewhere! I will be hosting a panel this year called "How to become an amateur voice actor"
It's all about how to get started in small voice work to build up a name for yourself. I will go over where to find this work and how to record and package the files. I will also be discussing what equipment and software to use. But that's not all! I will also teach you about how to treat voice acting as a business and the "Do's and Don'ts" of the industry. Come on down and learn a thing or two!

I will also answer any questions the audience has at the end. If I run out of time in the panel anyone can ask me anything about the subject during the con.

So a question for anyone who will be attending. What would YOU like to see? What subjects would you want covered? What questions would you want answered?

Well being a fellow amateur voice actor, I think that you should go over with the audience about what they should be doing if they really want to be a voice actor. I've heard it all the time from the professional voice actors that the best way to be a good voice actor is to get as much acting experience as you can whether it's practicing at home with yourself or taking classes or being stage productions, etc.

Of course. For me my first step up was getting involved in school stage productions.

So. I have another question for anyone who plans on attending. Would you like it if I got the crowd involved? Maybe pick random volunteers to come up and read a few lines? I don't want this to be me standing in front of a room reading off of a power point the whole time. I want you guys to have fun while you learn! So what do you think?

well maybe, if legally permitted, you should bring an assortment of clips with the lines for the clips for people to voice over to right on the spot

Well for anyone who attended, what did you think?! I thought it went pretty well despite my computer not wanting to work with me. Feel free to leave any comments/constructive criticisms/applause
