There are a few different ways to get to the convention. We will try to cover as many practical ones as possible. Some of the transportation involves riding on public busses, Milwaukee has a very good public transit system. The bus costs $2.00
The convention is being held on the first and second floors of the UWM Union Building.

How to get to the convention
Flying into Mitchell International Airport:
Get onto a bus on Route 80. The airport is the end of the line, so you don't have to worry about going in the right direction.
Ask the driver to announce the Wisconsin Avenue stop and for a transfer slip, as this is where you'll be transferring routes.
You might have to walk a block or two to get to a stop on route 30, and once a route 30 bus comes you'll want to get on.
That's it! the 30 route goes right to the university, and there's even a stop right in front of the convention building.
Approximate time from Airport to Convention: 1 hour 20 minutes
Arriving via Amtrak:
You'll be doing a little bit of walking, just keep going straight out of the amtrak station doors.
After 3 blocks, you'll come to Wisconsin Avenue. Go right and walk along Wisconsin Ave until you find a bus stop for route 30. Get onto the route 30 bus.
That's it! the 30 route goes right to the university, and there's even a stop right in front of the convention building.
Approximate time from Amtrak to Convention: 30-45 minutes

Parking
Here is a link to campus parking (a nice map can be found
here):
http://www4.uwm.edu/trans/visitors_firsttimer.htm
There is some free parking, some metered parking and a rather large parking lot directly under the union. I believe that parking is free in the union on Sunday, but not Friday and Saturday.
During Friday and Saturday, the cost of parking can be found here:
http://www4.uwm.edu/trans/parking_rates.htm
I think your best option is to park on the street, a little south of campus, or a little north. It can be a ways to walk, but it's free.
If the hotel that you are staying at doesn't have a parking facility, and you park on the street, you can call in an overnight parking permit.
